Position Summary
The purpose of the Operations Manager is to lead the Operations team to make the right decisions that will positively impact both the personnel and the business unit. As the leader in operations, it is vital the Operations Manager builds a culture that promotes safety, growth and development within their team, as well as progressing the systems and processes for operations in the region.
The Operations Manager will have good operational and technical base knowledge and they will continue to further enhance their inter and intra personnal skills in order to play their role in leading the region oprationally. Together with this, they will develop positive relationships with all stakeholders and overcome rewarding challenges, both independently and as a part of the wider team.
This position will be reporting to the EH Director, Manufacturing & Operations based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Duties And Responsibilities
Safety
- Ensure that the safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to as far as is reasonbly practicable to ensure a safe working environment.
- Promote and lead a strong HSE culture at all times
- Introduce initiatives that are safety driven with the hope of reducing Incidents and hazards in all operations.
- Participation in the company HSE Observation card, STOP and LSR Self Verifcation Programs.
- Use their SWA (Stop Work Authority) to stop a job they may feel is unsafe, in order to prevent anaccident/incident occuring.
- Work and abide by our 6 life saving rules: energy isolation, working at heights, suspended loads, radiation, confined space and pressure testing, and practice the fatality prevention behaviours that are associated with each life saving rule.
- Ensure external contractors that we use and are approved operate to the same high standards as we excpect in regards to our HSSE policies.
Leadership
- Develop and mentor personnel
- Promote the highest standard of morals and ethics
- Create and implement development plans for direct reports
- Have open communcations with other functions (Projects, Engineering, Bids and Proposals, SCM) in order to execute tasks flawlessly.
- Participate in global and regional intiatives as a team leader or a participant.
- Communicate and collaborate with regional and global peers to implement global and regional policies and best practies.
- Communicate with your direct reports constantly and maintain open and honest information and feedback
Technical
- Manage the operations teams in delegating work for their assigned scopes
- Oversee the usage of the asset and maintenance management systems to log; equipment maintenance, current asset locations, and equipment certifications.
- Participate in Project and Engineering meetings as required and delegate attendance when needed.
- Lead the Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives that are operated by Oceaneering
- Manage the reporting of Non conformances and cost of poor quality (COPQ), and the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Interface with client representatives where neccessary
- Work as a positive and collaborative team player, when working in team environments.
- Maintain credentials and complete required training on-line in Oceneering's chosen Learning Management System (Sum Total).
Additional
- Participate in Operations toolbox talks
- Participate in the review and close out of action items/gaps found in the above mentioned HSE programs (Observation cards, STOP and LSR Self Verification)

Qualifications
Required
- Not Essential if you have the required experience-Bachelor's degree in operations management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Proven track record in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and cost optimization.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Experience
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations or production management.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Commercial awareness.
- Ability to adapt to different client needs and develop and maintain successful working relationships.
- Excellent standard of numeracy to analyse facts and figures.
