Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, binocular vision assessment, and contact lens fitting, and will support pre- and post-operative care for laser refractive surgery patients. Daily responsibilities include assessing visual acuity, identifying refractive errors, detecting common ocular conditions, and documenting findings accurately in patient records. The role involves counseling patients on treatment options, lens choices, and post-treatment care, while collaborating closely with ophthalmologists and clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care. The Optometrist will also contribute to patient education initiatives, maintain adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards, and support quality improvement activities within the clinic.

Qualifications

  • Recognized degree in Optometry or equivalent, with valid professional registration or eligibility to register with the relevant governing body.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, contact lens assessment, and basic binocular vision testing.
  • Experience or strong interest in refractive surgery co-management, including pre-operative evaluations and post-operative follow-up.
  • Solid understanding of common ocular conditions, basic ocular pathology, and when to refer for specialist or surgical care.
  • Strong communication and counseling skills to explain clinical findings, treatment plans, and post-operative instructions in a clear, empathetic manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team and maintain professional, respectful interactions with patients and colleagues.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in charting, documentation, and adherence to clinical protocols and quality standards.
  • Comfort with using digital health records and diagnostic equipment such as autorefractors, keratometers, slit lamps, and related instruments.
  • Willingness to participate in continuous professional development, training, and updates in refractive technology and clinical best practices.
  • Flexibility to work clinic hours, including weekends or extended hours as required, in line with patient and service needs.
  • Prior experience in a refractive surgery or specialized eye care setting is an advantage
