Job Description

Job Summary

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for driving value creation across assigned portfolio companies post-acquisition. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, and execution owning problem structuring, solutioning, and delivery oversight. The individual is expected to operate as a mini-CEO for their portfolio, ensuring initiatives translate into measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Ownership

  • Own 1–2 portfolio companies end-to-end, across strategic and operational initiatives
  • Act as the primary point of contact between portfolio company management and internal stakeholders
  • Diagnose business issues and identify value creation levers (revenue growth, cost optimization, working capital)

Value Creation Execution

  • Develop and drive 100-day plans and longer-term transformation roadmaps
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives (commercial, operations, supply chain, digital)
  • Track and report KPI improvements with clear linkage to EBITDA impact

Stakeholder Management

  • Engage senior management (CEO, CFO, functional heads) to align on priorities
  • Manage upwards to internal leadership with structured updates and escalation where required
  • Influence without authority in complex, legacy environments

Team Leadership

  • Guide analysts and junior team members in problem structuring and execution
  • Ensure high-quality outputs (analysis, decks, recommendations)
  • Build repeatable playbooks across portfolios

Job Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in consulting, private equity, corporate strategy, or operations
  • Proven track record in delivering business impact (not just advisory)
  • Strong problem structuring and hypothesis-driven thinking
  • Ability to translate strategy into execution plans
  • Financial acumen (P&L understanding, value driver analysis)
  • High stakeholder management capability
  • Ownership mindset; comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • High accountability and bias for action
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically
