Job Description
Position Overview
To lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of robust, automated test solutions that ensure reliable characterization and production readiness of advanced optoelectronic and photonic products. The candidate owns test correlation, test throughput, test cost, test time, and first pass yield, and is responsible for evaluating test platforms to improve product output and build sufficient test capacity to support demand forecast.
Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and implement automated testing strategies and procedures for optoelectronic products across R&D, qualification, NPI, and mass production stages.
- Perform optical, electro-optical (DC/RF), and photonic integrated circuit (PIC) testing and characterization.
- Design, set up, maintain, and improve test systems, fixtures/jigs, and measurement instrumentation, including instrument integration and hardware configuration.
- Analyze test and measurement data and prepare technical documentation, including test reports, GR&R, and tester buy-off reports.
- Drive improvements in test methodologies, automation, standardization, and repeatability to improve overall test efficiency.
- Establish and maintain test correlation across testers, fixtures, sites, and platforms, including correlation with R&D and customer measurements.
- Drive test throughput and cost improvements by reducing test time per unit, optimizing test flows, enabling multi-site testing, and meeting NPI test cost targets.
- Evaluate and benchmark test platforms and configurations, and recommend solutions that improve test output and production efficiency.
- Plan and enable test capacity for future production ramps, identifying and resolving capacity bottlenecks to meet demand forecasts.
- Conduct hands-on troubleshooting, validation, and failure analysis, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners to support product development, qualification, and manufacturing readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Photonics, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in test engineering, test development, or characterization of semiconductor, optical, or optoelectronic products.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, optical, and electro-optical testing methodologies, laboratory instrumentation, and test system integration.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools, such as Microsoft Excel, JMP, or equivalent software.
- Experience with test development scripting or programming, such as Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or C/C++.
- Practical experience in test instrument integration, hardware design, troubleshooting, and characterization.
