About the Role
The Product Owner will lead diverse & cross-functional scrum teams to deliver new features for the digital bank which covers defining the product vision, roadmap, and driving the overall prioritisation of work progress. This role will also be the voice of our customers in ensuring their needs are deeply understood and met while overseeing the detailed creation of product requirements encompassing risk & control, regulatory requirements and addressing any dependencies between the existing and digital bank. In addition, the Product Owner shall engage with the senior leadership team within the Bank to steer new product initiatives.
What will you do:
- Lead a diverse & cross-functional team from project inception to scoping, design, concept testing and delivery of new product requirements on behalf of the digital bank
- Define the product vision and roadmap and determine how this will be measured based on the broader digital bank strategy and set the direction for the development team and stakeholders
- Define and manage the product backlog to facilitate the delivery of the vision and roadmap
- Apply customer centric design methodologies to review product development and digital customer journeys, ensuring ideas are based on customer needs and pain points
- Work with stakeholders to gather customer feedback through different channels to drive and continuously improve new features
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional and cross-departmental communication and coordination to ensure product quality and progress, alongside completion of product related goals
- Drive product competition analysis and market research to ensure the product maintains its unique value proposition and competitive advantage
- Ensure that all business requirements (e.g. regulatory requirements, processes, risks, controls, etc.) are considered and proactively identify & manage any dependencies between the existing & digital bank
- Research and stay up to date with product developments and low market trends
- Deliver regular presentations and product development updates to the senior leadership team highlighting progress, blockers and proposed solutions
- Support the incubation of new product initiatives to further the strategic agenda of the digital bank
Skills, certifications and experience you possess:
- Minimum of 5 years working experience, preferably in banking, investment, takaful, cards and payments product development or product management related roles in technology and/or financial related fields would be beneficial
- Degree in business administration, management, marketing, information technology, computer science/engineering or related fields with strong analytical, communication & leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs through research and testing
- Knowledge of technology and local market trends, and demonstrate a keen understanding & interest in digital channels and products
- Experience in defining user journeys and deriving technical solutions to business challenges
- Possess working knowledge and experience of UI/UX
- Sufficient understanding of technology and how to build products to enable prioritization of tech debt reduction vs bug management vs feature development
- A strong customer focus and a natural inclination to let empirical research define and inform product priorities and requirements
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to plan and manage numerous processes, projects and cross-functional teams
- Prior experience in Islamic Banking & Finance is an added advantage
- Understanding of major cloud applications and architecture is an added advantage
- Current involvement with Paynet Real-Time Payment Platform (RPP), MyDebit, JomPAY and VISA will be preferred
