The Project Director will lead the group's solar project portfolio, overseeing the end-to-end development and delivery of utility-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) solar PV projects. This role is responsible for strategy execution, project governance, financial performance, stakeholder management, and team leadership, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of solar PV projects, from feasibility, permitting, and development through execution, commissioning, and commercial operation.
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, timelines, and financial targets.
- Establish and enforce project governance, reporting, and performance controls.
- Accountable for successful project delivery measured by safety performance, schedule adherence, budget control, and commercial outcomes.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Manage project budgets, cash flow, and cost controls for large-scale solar investments.
- Support project financing activities, including technical due diligence, lender engagements, and financial close requirements.
- Drive value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Management
- Act as the primary interface with regulators, local authorities, consultants, landowners, and partners.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, permitting, grid connection, and contractual requirements.
- Lead negotiations with EPC contractors, suppliers, and strategic partners.
Team & Capability Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary solar project team including project managers, engineers, and site personnel.
- Foster a strong safety culture and high-performance mindset across all project sites.
- Support talent development and succession planning within the Solar Division.
HSE, Quality & ESG
- Lead and ensure full compliance with company and statutory health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across all project sites.
- Embed ESG, sustainability, and environmental best practices into project execution and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy, or related discipline).
- Minimum 12-15 years of experience in solar project management, construction, or infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record in delivering utility-scale and/or C&I solar projects.
- Strong experience in EPC contracts, project financing support, and regulatory engagement.
Technical & Commercial Skills
- Deep understanding of solar PV systems, grid interconnection, and permitting processes.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing large project budgets and contracts.
- Familiarity with project management tools.
