Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Pupil-in-Chambers role located in Johor Bahru. The Pupil will assist in legal research, drafting pleadings, case preparation, and attending to court-related matters. The role includes attending to client consultations, supporting lawyers, and staying updated with legal developments. The Pupil will also have opportunities to gain hands-on experience in criminal and civil litigation where you will gain real exposure not just observe from the sidelines.

Qualifications

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills to evaluate cases and prepare legal documents.
  • Genuinely eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced litigation environment
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented, with strong analytical thinking skills
  • Solid drafting, writing, and proofreading skills for pleadings, correspondence, and legal agreements.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to liaise with clients, colleagues, and court representatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics.
  • Responsible, proactive, and able to take initiative when handling assigned tasks.
  • Able to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and basic office software is desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent qualification; candidates with completed CLP or Bar qualifications will have an advantage.

From the very beginning, you will be immersed in research, drafting and court hearings, giving you valuable, practical experience in litigation.
