We are introducing an exciting new outlet in Penang under the Aliyaa concept — a refined Asian speciality restaurant inspired by bold flavours, cultural authenticity and contemporary dining. The restaurant places strong emphasis on quality ingredients, elevated presentation and warm, attentive hospitality.
We are seeking a capable and commercially driven Restaurant Manager to lead the opening team. This role is responsible for delivering operational excellence, strong financial performance and a consistently high-quality guest experience that reflects the Aliyaa brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Lead daily Front of House and Back of House operations
- Ensure seamless coordination between service and kitchen teams
- Maintain high standards of food quality, service and ambience
- Oversee reservations, table management and service flow
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are consistently followed
- Uphold cleanliness, maintenance and asset care
- Maintain strong leadership presence during peak service hours
2. Financial Planning & Profitability
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, including revenue and cost forecasts
- Monitor performance against budgets and analyse monthly P&L reports
- Control food cost, labour cost and operating expenses
- Identify variances and implement corrective actions
- Drive revenue growth and improve average spend per guest
- Oversee inventory, purchasing and supplier management
- Ensure strict cash control and revenue protection
3. Marketing & Brand Development
- Plan and execute marketing activities, promotions and events
- Work closely with Marketing on digital, social media and PR initiatives
- Monitor campaign performance and ROI
- Ensure all initiatives reflect the restaurant's positioning
- Build relationships within the local hospitality community
4. Collaboration with Culinary Team
- Work closely with Head Chef on menu development and pricing
- Align menu offerings with financial targets and brand direction
- Support seasonal promotions and special events
- Ensure strong communication between FOH and BOH teams
5. Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Deliver a personalised and high-quality dining experience
- Ensure team product knowledge and service standards are maintained
- Manage guest feedback and resolve issues professionally
- Build relationships with repeat and VIP guests
6. Human Resource Management
- Recruit, train and develop a high-performing team
- Manage staff scheduling in line with business needs
- Set performance objectives and conduct regular reviews
- Handle disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies
- Foster a culture of professionalism and teamwork
7. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and sanitation standards
- Maintain licences and required certifications
- Conduct regular operational and safety checks
- Safeguard company assets and workplace environment
8. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare weekly and monthly operational and financial reports
- Monitor KPIs including sales, labour and guest satisfaction
- Conduct team briefings and management meetings
- Provide insights and recommendations to Senior Management
9. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and guest experience
- Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activity
- Drive improvements while maintaining brand standards
10. Additional Duties
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by Senior Management
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in a managerial role within a full-service restaurant
- Strong leadership, operational and financial management skills
- Experience in Asian or speciality dining concepts preferred
- Commercially focused with strong business acumen
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Penang
