SAP MDG AMS LeadRole OverviewThe SAP MDG AMS Lead is responsible for managing end-to-end application management services (AMS) for SAP Master Data Governance (MDG). This role ensures high-quality support, robust data governance, and system stability while serving as the primary liaison between business and IT stakeholders. The position also drives continuous improvement, supports transformation initiatives, and leads both onsite and offshore teams.
Key Responsibilities1. MDG Operations & Service Delivery- Lead end-to-end SAP MDG AMS operations, including incident, problem, and change management
- Manage MDG workflows, BRF+, data models, validations, derivations, and change request (CR) processes
- Ensure adherence to SLAs, governance standards, and overall service quality
- Drive issue resolution, escalation management, and service performance improvements
2. Stakeholder Management & Onsite Coordination- Act as the primary onsite point of contact for business and IT stakeholders
- Manage escalations, provide regular status updates, and ensure transparent communication
- Facilitate requirement-gathering workshops and support testing cycles
- Collaborate closely with data owners and business users to ensure alignment
3. Master Data Governance & Data Quality- Define, implement, and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and KPIs
- Identify and resolve data quality issues such as duplicates, inconsistencies, and lifecycle gaps
- Support governance councils and data stewardship initiatives
- Promote best practices in master data management and governance
4. Enhancements & Transformation Initiatives- Lead functional and technical design for MDG enhancements and integrations
- Support SAP S/4HANA transformation programs, MDG implementations, and SAP BTP-based workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including ABAP, Basis, Security, Integration, and functional modules
- Contribute to innovation and continuous evolution of the MDG landscape
5. MDG Technology & Landscape Management- Oversee MDG configuration, data replication frameworks (DRF), and distribution processes
- Ensure system stability, performance, and effective transport/release management
- Support testing, deployment, and cutover activities across releases
6. Continuous Improvement & Team Leadership- Lead, mentor, and guide onsite and offshore team members; review deliverables for quality
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process optimization
- Drive AMS maturity, service excellence, and adoption of best practices
Qualifications & Experience- 8+ years of SAP consulting experience with strong focus on SAP MDG
- Hands-on expertise in one or more MDG domains (Business Partner, Material, Finance, Supplier)
- Strong experience in MDG configuration, including workflows, BRF+, data models, validations, and derivations
- Proven experience in AMS/support environments (incident, problem, and change management)
- Solid understanding of master data governance frameworks and data quality management
- Experience with data replication (DRF), integrations, and MDG architecture
- Exposure to SAP S/4HANA, MDG implementations, and SAP BTP is highly preferred
- Strong stakeholder management and onsite coordination experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage escalations, and drive delivery excellence
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
