Senior Accounts Associate / Accounts Associate (Johor Bahru, Malaysia)

We are looking for an Senior Accounts Associate / Accounts Associate who is passionate about accounting, enjoys working with clients, and is keen to grow professionally in a technology-driven environment. You will work alongside experienced accounting, tax and corporate professionals while gaining exposure to businesses from various industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Handle full set or partial sets of accounts for a portfolio of clients.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with accounting standards.
• Process journals, accruals and adjustments.

Financial Reporting

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
• Support year-end closing activities.
• Liaise with auditors during annual audits.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documents for statutory reporting.

Client Support

• Communicate with clients to obtain accounting information and supporting documents.
• Respond to accounting-related enquiries professionally.
• Work closely with tax and corporate secretarial teams to ensure timely service delivery.

Compliance

• Assist in preparing GST computation & filings where applicable.
• Ensure accounting records comply with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain proper documentation and filing.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve work processes.
• Leverage digital accounting systems and AI tools to improve efficiency.
• Participate in internal projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Candidates with 1–3 years of accounting experience are preferred.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, AutoCount, SQL, MYOB or similar systems is an advantage.
• Good understanding of accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Good communication skills in English.
• Able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
