  • The role would suit an agency-trained communications professional looking to move in-house, or an in-house practitioner with solid experience in corporate communications and reputation

Job Description:

Corporate reputation and communications strategy

  • Support the development and execution of SPX Express Malaysia's corporate communications and reputation strategy.
  • Translate business priorities, operational developments and industry issues into clear and credible external narratives.
  • Identify reputational opportunities and risks, and recommend appropriate communications approaches.
  • Develop corporate messaging, narrative frameworks, proof points and communications plans.
  • Support the positioning of SPX and its leaders on logistics, technology, operational resilience, workforce development and Malaysia's digital economy.

Issues and crisis communications

  • Monitor emerging issues that may affect SPX's reputation and provide timely communications advice.
  • Assess issues quickly, establish the known facts and identify potential stakeholder and media concerns.
  • Develop response strategies, holding statements, media Q&As, internal briefs and stakeholder communications.
  • Work with Operations, Legal, Human Resources and other teams to ensure responses are accurate, proportionate and coordinated.
  • Support communications during operational incidents, service disruptions, workforce matters and other reputation-sensitive situations.

Writing and executive communications

  • Draft and edit press releases, media statements, holding lines, briefing notes, speeches, talking points, opinion pieces and executive communications.
  • Turn complex or technical information into concise, accessible and credible communications.
  • Prepare senior leaders for media interviews, stakeholder engagements and difficult questions.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, tone and consistency across corporate communications materials.

Media relations

  • Build trusted relationships with business, mainstream, technology and industry media.
  • Manage media enquiries, including those involving sensitive or rapidly developing issues.
  • Identify strong earned-media opportunities that support SPX's corporate positioning.
  • Develop interview angles, media pitches and background materials, and support company spokespeople.

Stakeholder counsel and coordination

  • Serve as a trusted communications partner to internal stakeholders.
  • Ask the right questions, challenge assumptions constructively and anticipate how decisions may be perceived externally.
  • Coordinate communications across SPX, Shopee Malaysia and regional teams where required.
  • Manage external communications agencies and partners against agreed strategic and quality expectations.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Affairs, or Reputation Management.
  • Communications agency experience is highly preferred, particularly in corporate reputation, media relations, or issues and crisis communications.
  • Excellent written English with strong drafting skills for press releases, media statements, Q&As, briefing notes, speeches, and executive communications.
  • Proven experience managing media relations, handling media enquiries, and building relationships with journalists.
  • Strong understanding of issues and crisis communications, with the ability to assess reputational risks and develop effective communication strategies.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and/or Mandarin is an added advantage.
  • Experience in logistics, e-commerce, technology, or other fast-paced industries is a plus.
