Job Description

Principal Accountabilities

This role is responsible for performing finance tasks with accuracy, independence, and sound judgement. The position supports the superior in ensuring timely financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements, and strong internal controls. The incumbent plays a key role in maintaining the Firm's financial integrity and supporting continuous improvement in finance processes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform full-set accounting tasks, including preparation and posting of journal entries, maintenance of ledgers, and month-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, schedules, and reconciliations to support management reporting and audit requirements.
  • Manage Accounts Payable, including reviewing supporting documents, verifying compliance with policies, and processing vendor and staff payments.
  • Handle Accounts Receivable, including invoicing, debtor analysis, collections follow-up, and reconciliation of customer accounts.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and key account reconciliations, identifying variances and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and submit SST returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely filing in line with statutory regulations.
  • Support yearly audit and tax submissions, including preparation of audit schedules, responding to queries, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Monitor internal controls and compliance, ensuring transactions follow internal policies, authorization limits, and accounting standards.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, recommending enhancements to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and workflow effectiveness.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to finance-related projects, system updates, analyses, and assist junior staff when required.

Job Requirement

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in accounting or finance.
  • Preferably experience in professional services firms, SMEs, or corporate environments.
  • Familiarity with SST, monthend closing, and audit preparation is required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, double entry, and financial controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup), Word, and accounting systems (SQL, QuickBooks, SAP, etc.).
  • Ability to prepare reconciliations, financial schedules, and management reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and also collaborate effectively.
  • Good time management, able to work under tight deadlines, especially during monthend.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Adaptable and willing to take on expanded responsibilities as needed.
