About the role
Lead a 24/7 AML operations team responsible for KYC/ KYB onboarding, customer due diligence (CDD), and real-time transaction monitoring across multiple shifts. Ensure seamless BAU (business-as-usual) coverage, regulatory compliance, and team performance while managing 50+ analysts and team leads across global time zones.
What you'll do
24/7 Shift Management & BAU Oversight
- Manage 3-shift operations (morning/evening/night) for KYC and TM teams, ensuring 24-hour coverage for alerts, escalations, and urgent requests.
- Optimize shift handover processes to maintain continuity (e.g.logs, escalation trackers).
KPI & OKR Monitoring
- Define and track shift-level KPIs.
- Align team OKRs with organizational goals.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with Team Leads to address deviations and adjust resources per shift needs.
People Leadership/ Management
- Train, monitor, coach and lead 50+ analysts and team leads across shifts, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Address shift-related challenges (e.g., fatigue, attrition) through rotational schedules, recognition programs.
Stakeholder & Escalation Management
- Serve as point of contact for after-hours escalations (e.g., law enforcement requests, critical TM alerts).
- Liaise with CS/Product teams to resolve system outages impacting shift teams.
Operational Workflow Management
- Manage the BAU workflows, identify any operational issues that impact efficiency and accuracy and revise the BAU steps accordingly
- Liaise with KYC/ TM vendors for performance issues at times of operational interruptions and quality issues
- Oversee the account restriction approval process
- Handle escalations for PEP/ Adverse News/ sanction screening alerts
What you'll need
Must-Have Experience
- 10+ years in AML operations, with experience in managing shift-based teams (KYC/TM in financial institution, fintech, or crypto).
- Hands-on experience with AML tools (e.g., Refinitiv World-Check, Chainalysis).
- Proven ability to balance speed/accuracy in high-volume environments.
Critical Skills
- Shift Optimization: Ability to design fair schedules, manage overtime, and prevent burnout.
- Crisis Management: Calm under pressure (e.g., midnight phishing attack investigation).
- Regulatory Knowledge: FATF, BSA, AML/CFT laws for shift-work compliance.
- People Management experience
Nice-to-Have
- CAMS or ICA certification.
- Exposure to crypto in shift environments.
- Sanction-related certifications.
