The Senior Process Engineer role will be based at the Kuala Lumpur Office and engaged on a one-year contract under a third-party manpower arrangement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
- 10-15 years of experience in oil and gas facilities / production engineering, preferably with offshore operating assets and brownfield projects.
- Strong fundamentals in process engineering and offshore production facilities.
- Practical experience in field development projects, brownfield modifications, revamps, and operating facilities support.
- Experience with offshore facilities, preferably including floaters.
- Good understanding of production system behaviour and late-life asset challenges.
- Proficiency in HYSYS or equivalent process simulation tools (minimum requirement). Exposure to OLGA is an advantage but not mandatory
- Knowledge of flow assurance concepts and common production risks (wax, hydrate, scale, corrosion, thermal issues).
- Experience reviewing or supporting flow assurance and production system studies by consultants.
- Exposure to pipeline, riser, PLEM, and production tie-in engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities & Floating Systems
- Provide process engineering design and review for offshore topsides and FPSO / FSO / MOPU facilities and associated utility systems.
- Support production system design including slug handling, separation philosophy, produced water treatment and gas processing.
- Provide technical input on wellstream arrival from pipelines and PLEM, including slug handling, pigging philosophy and inlet facilities design.
Flow Assurance, Production System & Thermal Management
- Perform topside facilities engineering analysis using HYSYS or equivalent, and provide technical support and recommendations to improve process performance, operational reliability, and production efficiency.
- Provide technical input on flow assurance and waxy crude handling, including wax deposition, hydrate, scale and corrosion risks, restart behaviour, pigging strategy, and definition of operating envelopes for wells, flowlines, risers, topsides, and storage systems.
- Support definition of operating limits, mitigation strategies and operating guidelines for challenging fluids and high water cut systems.
- Review and interpret flow assurance and production system studies performed by consultants or contractors, and translate findings into practical operating and design solutions.
- Support thermal management strategy for pipelines, risers, topsides and storage systems, including insulation, heating philosophy and shutdown / restart considerations.
- Support crude oil storage and offloading management, including tank heating, circulation, blending, interface control, wax management and export quality assurance.
Project & Contractor Support
- Prepare and develop technical scopes of work for Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design (DDE) engineering studies, including definition of deliverables, design basis, study objectives, and interface requirements.
- Support and review engineering contractor deliverables including HYSYS simulations, PFDs, P&IDs, heat & material balances, control philosophies, and operating manuals.
- Participate in multi-discipline design reviews to ensure operability, constructability and safe design.
- Preparing technical documentation, cost estimates, work & program budget and supporting budget management for assigned scopes.
Operations & Brownfield Support
- Provide process and facilities engineering support to operating assets, including troubleshooting, debottlenecking and equipment modifications.
- Support brownfield redevelopment, infill drilling tie-ins and asset life extension projects for mature offshore assets and floating facilities.
- Review operating envelopes, capacity limits and bottlenecks for separation, compression, export systems, etc
Execution & Commissioning Support
- Provide technical support during engineering design, fabrication, hook-up, commissioning and start-up.
- Support resolution of site engineering issues, technical queries and management of change (MOC).
- Ensure engineering documentation and drawings are updated to reflect as-built conditions.
HSE, Emissions & Compliance
- Provide technical input to HAZOP, operability and risk assessments.
- Support produced water management, effluent monitoring and GHG reduction initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, PETRONAS / regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
