Your Job
As a Senior Process Engineer, you will own and drive yield, quality, and continuous-improvement activities for the
plating department, delivering measurable reductions in process cost-of-poor-quality (COPQ) while ensuring products meet customer and specification requirements. This role leads root-cause and cost-reduction projects, establishes and maintains process controls and documentation (SOPs, FMEAs, process parameters), analyzes SPC and capability data, and partners cross-functionally to resolve customer complaints and maintain EHS compliance.
Our Team
You will work within the manufacturing/process-quality organization supporting the plating/surface‑treatment area. The role collaborates closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Customer Quality/Service, EHS, and cross-functional stakeholders to implement robust process controls and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
What You Will Do
- Lead primary initiatives to improve yield and product quality, acting as the accountable owner for yield and quality KPIs and improvement projects.
- Plan and execute cost‑reduction and process improvement projects, tracking financial impact and sustaining gains.
- Establish, document, and maintain process parameters, Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA), and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent and controlled plating processes.
- Analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data, evaluate process capability, and take necessary actions to ensure processes operate within specification limits.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to investigate and resolve customer complaints, drive root‑cause corrective actions, and reduce process COPQ.
- Ensure plating operations comply with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and internal EHS procedures.
- Support the Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering department on improvement activities tied to the plating department, including equipment, fixtures, and process flow improvements.
- Oversee and participate in all plating‑related activities to sustain process stability, quality output, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, leader, or Head of Department to meet business and operational needs.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, Metallurgy, or equivalent) or equivalent technical qualification.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably with plating/surface treatment or electrochemical processes.
- Practical experience with SPC, process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk), FMEA development, and writing/maintaining SOPs.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills (root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions) and experience leading cross‑functional improvement projects.
- Familiarity with EHS requirements in chemical/process environments and ability to ensure regulatory and site compliance.
What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)
- Advanced degree (MS) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or Lean certification and demonstrated application of DMAIC or similar methodologies.
- Direct experience with plating chemistries, bath control, and plating process equipment.
- Proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and yield improvements in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO), MES/ERP systems, and statistical software (Minitab, JMP, etc.)
