We are currently looking for package engineers for Subsea Production Systems responsible for overseeing technical coordination, managing subcontractor performance, ensuring compliance with project specification, supporting engineering and testing activities and providing comprehensive technical oversight throughout the design, fabrication, testing and commissioning phases of SPS delivery.

Job Overview:

The package Engineer for Subsea Production System is responsible for the technical coordination, engineering oversight and delivery of SPS components including subsea trees, wellheads, connectors and top-side control system elements. The role covers engineering, assembly, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Extended Factory Acceptance Testing (EFAT), System Integration Testing (SIT), Site Receipt Testing (SRT) and commissioning. The engineer ensures compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements and company technical standards while serving as the main technical interface between McDermott, Subcontractor and the Client.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the technical focal point between McDermott and the SPS subcontractor
  • Attend weekly SPS technical, interface and PMT meetings with subcontractor and client. Lead the technical product specific breakout sessions.
  • Prepare and/or review Weekly/Monthly project reports for McDermott and from subcontractor. Make sure that there is no gap within the individual reports.
  • Review SPS technical documents including drawings, design reports, datasheets, testing procedures and sub-vendor documentation.
  • Acts as a focal point for technical queries, deviations and interface & external interfaces within McDermott and with client for other contractors such as DNC, FPSO etc. Make sure such subcontractor documents/responses do not impact on the SURF scope of work.
  • Maintain and monitor Subcontractor technical changes in-line with the scope of work and make sure that there is no impact on the McDermott.
  • Ensure alignment between subcontracts, main contracts, scope of work and project technical requirements.
  • Verify subcontractors compliance with Client engineering standards, project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and escalate risks and deviations related to the technical compliance on time to SPS project manager.
  • Provide timely updates on SPS package status, Risks, issues and mitigation measures to the SPS project manager.
  • Track Sub-vendor packages as per the baseline schedule and procurement status. Any delays to be highlighted to SPS project Manager.
  • Review Subcontractor invoices from the technical point of view and make sure that all tasks mentioned under the invoices are completed and accepted by McDermott/Company.
  • Develop and review logistic and testing plans for all SPS equipment
  • Acts as McDermott focal point during the subcontractor's pre-production meetings and key testing activities.
  • Review and approval of Subcontractor ITPs to make sure all key activities are reviewed and compiled with project requirements. Establish notifications mechanism for Company's attendance during execution as per approved ITPs.
  • Ensure subcontractor equipment readiness for testing scopes including review at site locations.
  • Ensure timely troubleshooting of any issues that may arise during testing and make sure that the agreed delivery dates are not impacted.
  • Establish and maintain relationship between Subcontractor and Client.
  • Ensure clients and McDermotts Quality and Safety requirements are adhered to and followed by Subcontractor.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications and education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation)
  • 8-12 years of relevant work experience with SPS Contractor under engineering, assembly, site testing and commissioning etc.
  • Proven experience working in fast-track schedule driven environment
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment where honesty and integrity are essential ingredients to succeed.
  • Ability to lead technical discussion and resolve engineering challenges
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary project environments
  • Strong understanding of SPS design principles, hydraulic and electrical control systems, knowledge of industry standards including API, ISO, Norsok etc.
