We're now rebuilding our platform with an AI-native approach from how features are scoped and coded, to how customers experience the product.
Why this role is different
You will have access to leading AI coding assistants (Claude Code Max as primary, plus Jules, Codex, GitHub Copilot, CodeRabbit, and others) - use what works best for each task for coding, refactoring and debugging work.
Everyone, including non-technical teammates, uses AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, etc.) and is encouraged to prototype workflows and AI agents themselves. AI isn't a separate team it's the default way we work.
Our CEO and CTO are both technical founders who code, build AI products, and run monthly deep-dive AI workshops on topics like advanced prompting, AI agents, model temperature, vector embeddings, MCP, context engineering, RAG, DSPy, and more.
You'll collaborate with our Data Science team on generative AI products that use both frontier and open-source models (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Mistral, DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM, etc.) and modern AI infrastructure (Databricks, OpenRouter, AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI).

The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help design and build the next generation of Pantas climate and ESG platform. You'll own meaningful parts of our backend and/or full stack, work closely with product, business analysts, and data science, and help define what AI-first engineering looks like for the team.
You'll like this role if you enjoy hands-on coding, system design, and working directly with LLMs and AI tooling to deliver features faster and smarter.

What you'll get to do
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend and/or full-stack services for our platform.
Turn AI-generated PRDs and implementation plans into secure, robust, production-grade systems.
Integrate with external systems (banks, partners, customer data sources) and ensure data is clean, consistent, and auditable.
Ship AI-assisted workflows and features that help customers collect, validate, and analyse their data.
Collaborate with product, business analysts, and data science to rapidly prototype via AI, then iteratively refine into stable features.
Contribute to system architecture, coding standards, and our AI engineering playbook for Pantas.
Mentor other engineers in using AI tools effectively and help raise the bar for AI-native engineering across the team.
What you'll need to succeed
Solid experience (typically 3-5 years) as a software engineer in backend or full-stack roles, comfortable owning features end-to-end.
Strong skills in at least one modern backend stack (e.g. Python/Django, Node.js, etc.) and experience with SQL databases.
Experience building web applications or APIs used in production environments.
A habit of writing clean, maintainable code, with tests and monitoring.
Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment: shipping iteratively, handling ambiguity, and collaborating closely with non-engineering teammates.
AI-first mindset you're excited to treat AI as part of your stack, not a separate tool. You're already using (or keen to master) coding assistants like Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, etc.
Great if you also have:
Experience mentoring other engineers or influencing engineering practices.
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and data/ML infra (e.g. Databricks, SageMaker, Vertex AI, OpenRouter).
Experience building or integrating LLM-powered features (e.g. RAG, agents, prompt orchestration, chat workflows).
Interest or experience in climate, ESG, or fintech.
