Role Overview:
The Senior, Technology Planning and Standards Specialist is responsible to bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and technical execution. This role's focus will be defining and ensuring the how and what that every system and platform is scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term enterprise goals. This role will lead the planning and development of the technology roadmap and establish the appropriate standards and frameworks that govern the organization's digital footprint as well as implementation of standardized, modern tech practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Technology Planning:
- Develop and maintain the bank wide Technology Strategy in collaboration with stakeholders across the banking group.
- Identify emerging technologies as well as industry leading practices and assess their viability to be adopted as part of the group tech strategy approach.
- Ensure technology projects align with the organisation's risk appetite, governance protocols, and compliance mandates.
Standards & Framework Development:
- Develop and document the relevant standards and frameworks governing technology across the banking group.
- Establish and enforce Enterprise Architecture (EA) standards across software engineering, infrastructure, data and systems.
- Define a repository of approved practices, technologies, and frameworks.
Tech Compliance & Regulatory Readiness:
- Map technical standards and planning roadmaps to specific regulatory requirements (e.g., BNM RMiT) to ensure Compliance by Design.
- Lead the preparation of technical collaterals and artefacts for internal and external audits, ensuring architecture diagrams and planning documents meet the appropriate standards.
- Periodically perform Pre-Audit assessments to identify documentation gaps in the technology stack before formal regulatory reviews.
- Actively support regulatory activities related to Tech, coordinating the retrieval of evidence between engineering teams and auditors.
- Ensure adherence to governance policies across technology teams, fostering accountability.
Stakeholder Management:
- Engage with business units, product teams, and senior leadership to communicate tech strategy and planning requirements.
- Align governance processes with strategic objectives, fostering cross-department collaboration.
Technical Documentation Lifecycle:
- Maintain a centralized, immutable repository of architecture diagrams, change logs, and approval records.
- Prepare high-level technical summaries and vignettes that explain complex system architectures to non-technical regulatory bodies
- Assist in ensuring timely provision of technology collateral to meet business needs.
Performance Metrics & Continuous Improvement:
- Develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of technology standards.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in planning and governance processes.
- Identify improvement opportunities with regards to tech ways of working through system automation and process improvement.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technology strategy, planning and governance within the banking or financial sector.
- Good understanding of SSDLC, Cloud Architecture, ITIL frameworks, digital banking, IT standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven expertise in developing IT strategy plans, policy & framework documentation and process standardisation.
- Strong collaboration skills, capable of engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in technology, business, finance, or a related field.
- Certification in TOGAF, COBIT, or ITIL will be advantageous
