Job Description
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in Java and Node.js to design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate embraces modern AI-assisted coding practices to accelerate development while maintaining a strong commitment to code quality, security, performance, and maintainability through rigorous code reviews and engineering best practices.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend applications using Java and Node.js.
- Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions for enterprise environments.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while ensuring all AI-generated code is thoroughly reviewed, tested, and meets engineering standards.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and champion software quality across the development team.
- Write clean, well-documented, maintainable, and testable code with comprehensive unit and integration tests.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and optimise application performance.
- Collaborate closely with Product, DevOps, Infrastructure, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
- Participate in solution design, technical planning, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning, engineering excellence, and accountability.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and AI-assisted development practices that improve team productivity without compromising software quality.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Node.js.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and clean architecture principles.
- Solid experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development methodologies.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Python, Cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP), and DevOps (Docker / Kubernetes / CI-CD).
