Solutions Architect

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Technical Product Lead / Solution Architect to take ownership of technical projects from requirement gathering and system analysis through solution architecture, proof of concept, development, integration, deployment, and maintenance.

The role bridges business stakeholders, software developers, robotics and electrical teams, hardware suppliers, and end users. The ideal candidate must be capable of designing practical end-to-end solutions, validating them through PoCs, leading a technical team, and contributing directly to software, cloud, edge, database, and frontend integration work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the primary technical liaison between business stakeholders, clients, software developers, robotics teams, electrical/electronics teams, UI/UX teams, and external suppliers.

• Gather and analyse business, operational, software, hardware, and integration requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications, user stories, system flows, and development tasks.

• Own the product backlog and technical priorities across multiple projects, including features, integrations, maintenance work, bug fixes, dependencies, and delivery milestones.

• Design end-to-end solution architecture covering frontend applications, backend services, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, edge computers, networking, and hardware interfaces.

• Conduct system analysis, technical feasibility studies, system comparisons, and technology evaluations to recommend suitable implementation approaches.

• Develop or coordinate initial proofs of concept to validate architecture, APIs, communication flows, hardware integration, and user workflows before full development.

• Convert validated PoCs and architectures into structured development tasks and guide the project team through further implementation, integration, testing, and deployment.

• Contribute hands-on to software development and technical troubleshooting using technologies such as Python, Flutter/Dart, React, REST APIs, WebSockets, and real-time data interfaces.

• Design and support operational dashboards, mobile applications, web interfaces, and HMIs, including creation of user flows, wireframes, and mockups using Figma.

• Work with robotics and electrical teams to determine the robot status, telemetry, alarms, commands, and hardware information that must be monitored or controlled from the frontend.

• Integrate robotics data and application-level controls into backend and frontend systems using ROS topics, APIs, WebSockets, and related communication interfaces; core robotics algorithms such as SLAM, sensor fusion, navigation, and low-level control remain the responsibility of the robotics team.

• Design and maintain data models and application integrations using PostgreSQL and MongoDB for operational, telemetry, mission, user, and historical data.

• Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux/Ubuntu systems used for servers and edge-computing applications, including local-network and limited-connectivity environments.

• Deploy and maintain applications on AWS, including EC2-based environments, Docker containers, Nginx/reverse proxy configuration, domains, SSL certificates, scheduled services, and production troubleshooting.

• Identify project hardware and sensor requirements in coordination with robotics, electrical, and client teams; research, source, compare, and technically evaluate suitable suppliers and products.

• Review supplier specifications, communication protocols, APIs, compatibility, cost, availability, lead time, and technical support, and participate in supplier demonstrations and PoC testing when required.

• Lead and coordinate the technical project team, break architecture into work packages, assign tasks, review implementation, resolve technical blockers, and ensure knowledge transfer and documentation.

• Assess project resource needs, review candidate profiles provided by HR, conduct technical interviews and assessments, recommend suitable candidates, and help build or scale the technical team.

• Use Microsoft 365 tools for collaboration, reporting, documentation, and workflow automation, including Power Automate where applicable.

• Monitor deployed platforms, coordinate updates and maintenance, support incident troubleshooting, and ensure technical documentation, configurations, and handover information remain current.

QUALIFICATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Robotics, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

• Approximately 4+ years of relevant industry experience in software engineering, technical product ownership, systems integration, solution architecture, or a similar hands-on technical role.

• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), agile delivery, system architecture, APIs, databases, networking, deployment, and technical troubleshooting.

• Strong practical experience with Linux/Ubuntu; the candidate must be comfortable configuring,

• deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux-based application and edge environments.

• Hands-on experience with Python and practical exposure to Flutter/Dart and/or React for application, HMI, dashboard, or frontend development.

• Experience designing or integrating REST APIs, WebSockets, real-time telemetry, backend services, and frontend applications.

• Practical experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including schema/data-model design and application integration.

• Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and server operations, preferably EC2, Docker, Nginx/reverse proxy, SSL/domain configuration, deployment, monitoring, and production support.

• Experience with edge computing, local-network applications, IoT, robotics, industrial systems, or hardware-software integration is strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of ROS/ROS2 concepts and the ability to integrate ROS topics/messages with backend or frontend systems is preferred; development of core robotics algorithms is not required.

• Ability to understand client-facing UI/HMI requirements and work with robotics/electrical teams to determine what system information, telemetry, alarms, controls, and status data need to be exposed to users.

• Experience identifying technical hardware requirements, researching products, comparing systems, communicating with suppliers, and evaluating hardware compatibility and integration requirements.

• Experience creating wireframes or application mockups using Figma and translating operational workflows into practical user interfaces.

• Experience with Git/GitHub and familiarity with Microsoft 365 collaboration tools; Power Automate experience is an advantage.

• Demonstrated ability to independently analyse a problem, compare solutions, define architecture, build or validate a PoC, and hand over a structured implementation plan to a development team.

• Experience leading technical team members, reviewing implementation, mentoring developers, and coordinating work across software, hardware, cloud, and integration functions.

• Ability to review technical candidate profiles, conduct technical interviews, identify skill gaps, and support recruitment and team-building activities.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, documentation, and problem solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to manage several projects and technical workstreams concurrently while maintaining ownership of priorities, dependencies, integration, and delivery quality.
