Role Purpose
The Squad Lead of GCB Strategy, will lead the development, articulation, and execution of the Retail Banking division's strategic agenda. This role is responsible for driving sustainable growth, enhancing customer value propositions, and ensuring alignment with the Bank's overall corporate strategy.
The incumbent will work closely with senior leadership, Tribe Owners, and Squad Leads to translate strategic priorities into actionable initiatives, while embedding a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous innovation
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development & Execution
- Lead the formulation of short- to long-term Retail Banking strategies aligned with the Bank's vision and market dynamics in Malaysia
- Translate strategic priorities into clear roadmaps, initiatives, and measurable outcomes
- Drive execution and track performance of key strategic initiatives across segments (Mass, Mass Affluent, HNW, where relevant)
- Innovation & Future Banking Initiatives
- Champion innovation by identifying and scaling new business models with relevant stakeholders for example:
- Personalised engagement engines leveraging data analytics to activate dormant and low-engagement customers
- Embedded finance & ecosystem partnerships (e.g: lifestyle ecosystems, property journeys)
- Digital-first propositions such as end-to-end onboarding, straight-through processing, and self-service journeys
- Next-generation wealth advisory, combining human RM capabilities with digital tools and insights
- Drive test-and-learn experimentation through agile squads to rapidly validate and scale use cases
- Business Performance & Insights
- Provide strategic insights through market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and internal performance diagnostics
- Identify growth opportunities across products, channels, and customer segments
- Support leadership in portfolio prioritisation and capital allocation decisions
- Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Partner closely with Tribe Owners, Squad Leads, and functional teams to co-create and execute strategic initiatives
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders to align on priorities and outcomes
- Build strong working relationships across business units, risk, compliance, and external partners
- Transformation & Operating Model Excellence
- Drive adoption of agile ways of working across Retail Banking
- Support operating model enhancements to improve speed-to-market and customer experience
- Embed a culture of accountability, performance tracking, and continuous improvement
- Governance & Strategic Planning
- Lead annual strategic planning cycles, including budgeting and target setting
- Establish governance frameworks to monitor progress and ensure accountability
- Prepare and present strategic materials to senior management and Board-level committees
