Job Description
- Tax Compliance & Reporting: Overseeing the preparation and timely submission of all direct and indirect tax returns, including Income Tax Act (ITA), Sales & Service Tax (SST), and Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT).
- Tax Planning & Strategy: Developing and implementing tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax savings while adhering to all regulations.
- Advisory Services: Providing practical, up-to-date tax advice to internal stakeholders and senior management regarding the tax implications of business decisions, transactions, and joint venture initiatives.
- Transfer Pricing: Ensuring compliance with transfer pricing obligations, which may include the preparation and review of documentation for various entities within the group.
- Tax Audits & Inquiries: Coordinating and managing tax audits, inquiries, and notices from tax authorities (e.g., the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia), and liaising with external auditors and tax agents as needed.
- Regulatory Updates: Staying informed about changes in tax laws and regulations in Malaysia (e.g., e-Invoice guidelines) and proactively identifying potential risks or opportunities for the organization.
- Process Improvement: Driving process improvements within the tax and finance functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Regulatory & Tax Liaison: Deal with the IRB and other tax related bodies, tax advisors/consultants.
- Legislative Monitoring & Updates: Update of latest development on tax legislation to the relevant personnel.
Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, any professional Degree in Finance/Accountancy, or equivalent.
- Professional Certification: Membership in professional bodies such as the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM), CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is often preferred or required.
- Experience: Generally, a minimum of 6 to 7 years of experience in a relevant tax field, often with specific experience in both tax compliance and advisory. Experience in group consolidation for a large group of companies is also beneficial.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian (and potentially international) tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in relevant tax software and financial systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse stakeholders.
- Good verbal and written communication skill in English/BM.
- With working experience in PLC and properties is preferred.
- Meticulous, independent, able to perform under tight deadline and assume challenges.
