Job Description

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced team lead who plays a pivotal role in driving the capital market (structured products & fixed income) business within Regional Wealth Management for Malaysia and Singapore. This individual is responsible for the entire lifecycle of structured products & fixed income, from strategy and onboarding to ongoing management, governance, and collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.

This regional role demands a strong understanding of financial markets, regulatory requirements, risk management, and product development. In essence, the team lead is a key driver of the capital market business, balancing strategic thinking with meticulous execution, strong stakeholder management, and a deep commitment to regulatory compliance and product quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Business Ownership

  • Strategic Vision and P&L Ownership: Lead the definition and implementation of the structured products & fixed income strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Take accountability for the financial performance and achievement of revenue and profitability targets (P&L ownership) for the entire capital market desk.
  • Market Analysis and Portfolio Growth: Direct market intelligence gathering to identify new opportunities, competitive threats, and emerging trends. Own the strategic direction for evolving the product portfolio to capture market share and maximize fee income.

Team Management & Development

  • Team Leadership and Performance: Manage, mentor, and coach a high-performing team of product specialists. Set clear performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and foster a collaborative environment focused on execution excellence.
  • Stakeholder & Counterparty Management: Serve as the primary escalation point and strategic liaison with global markets, key counterparties, internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Legal, Risk), ensuring robust, collaborative relationships that drive product quality and commercial viability.

Product Governance & Risk Oversight

  • Product Governance and Policy Oversight: Take ultimate ownership of the structured products governance framework, policies, and procedures. Ensure all product lifecycles, from inception to exit, adhere to the highest standards of regulatory compliance and internal risk appetite.
  • Advanced Due Diligence and Onboarding: Oversee and approve the rigorous due diligence and onboarding process for new structured products / fixed income, ensuring all offerings meet stringent quality and compliance standards before market launch.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure strict adherence to all internal and external legal, compliance, and risk management requirements related to capital market products, setting the standard for the team.

Commercialization & Sales Enablement

  • Commercial Strategy and Marketing Direction: Direct and collaborate with the Wealth Marketing team to develop high-impact, data-driven marketing and sales enablement strategies designed to significantly boost structured product and fixed income sales and fee revenue.
  • Sales Force Training and Expertise: Lead the strategy for comprehensive, continuous training programs for Investment Counsellors and frontline staff, ensuring they possess the necessary product knowledge, suitability frameworks, and sales skills to confidently advise clients.

Operational Excellence & System Enhancement

  • Process Optimization and Efficiency: Direct and collaborate with Business Management team to continuously review and champion improvements in sales processes, operational workflows, and product management activities to enhance efficiency (automation), control, and regulatory compliance.
  • System Ownership and User Experience: Define the strategic roadmap for system enhancements. Work closely with project teams, translating high-level business needs into user requirements to dramatically improve customer experience, productivity, and the technological support for structured products.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Min 7-10 years of relevant experience in Wealth Management, Asset Management, Financial/Investment field specialized in capital market products (structured investment, fixed income, etc.) with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Banking/Investment/Finance or a related field
  • Possess professional investment related certification will be added advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Words
  • Strong interpersonal skills- Personable, approachable, collaborative
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
