ROLE PURPOSE
The Strategic Analysis Analyst is a function within the Financial Intelligence Unit, that is responsible in supporting the efforts to supervise the surveillance and assessment of key and emerging ML,TF and PF risks to support national AML/CFT/CPF policy in ensuring the integrity of the financial system is preserved.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIE
1. Thematic Assessments:
- Conduct analysis on key and emerging typologies, ML/TF/PF risks and trends at macro and micro levels and on specific crimes and interlinkages between high-risk crimes and sectors, within and across sectors and institutions
- Maintain an updated key and emerging ML/TF/PF risks and trends; and communicate the results effectively to relevant stakeholders to support the development of national strategy
- Conduct in-depth thematic analysis of key and emerging crimes and foreign threats for greater understanding of the threats and vulnerabilities in the country
- Development of typologies reports and guidance to financial and non-financial institutions, law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders on identified risks and mitigating measures
- Participate in initiatives in addressing and mitigating the identified gaps/risks in AML/CFT/CPF, and promoting collaboration with relevant internal/external stakeholder
2. Other responsibilities
- Act as custodian for exhibits at HQ and branches
- Participate in projects within the department including investigation support and policy development to gain a broader perspective and improve environmental awareness on ML/TF/PF matters to help in performing its functions within the section
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in banking and finance, accounting, legal, economics,
forensic accounting, risk management, statistics or related discipline.
Experience: 2 years of experience, preferably in surveillance/ intelligence, supervision,
regulation, investigation/ enforcement, audit, risk management and/or legal.
