A Brief Overview

Support region in managing financial reporting and controls, planning and analysis for the region's business operations; ensuring timely and effective financial reporting process. Work collaboratively with cross functional teams across Finance, Valuation and Administration for improvements to operational processes. Maintain risk management focus, support strategic initiatives, and foster spirit of cooperation with all departments.

What You Will Do

FinancialReportingandControls

  • Manage and work on accounting and financial reporting for the region which includes legal entity financial reporting (IFRS) and Business Unit management reporting (US GAAP). Ensure key accounting controls and financial integrity are in place in all aspects of financial reporting. Drive adherence to RGA accounting policies and practices. Support and ensure SOX audit compliance for the region.
  • Manage and work on the quarterly and annual submissions to regulators and tax authorities, including managing and responding to any queries arising. Manage tax returns preparation of assign legal entities and collaborate with Regional/Global Tax teams for tax fillings purposes.
  • Support in the preparation of high-quality reports to present financial performance to key stakeholders, including Regional Finance team and Executive team etc. reflecting the different needs of each stakeholder.
  • Identify and work on potential improvements to financial reporting and management systems to support management decision-making and implementation of business strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with finance, valuation and data administration on financial reporting and operational matters.
  • Support in the annual audit process including managing and responding to auditors requests and queries.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to more junior Finance team members particularly on financial accounting and reporting matters.

Financial Planning andAnalysis

  • Support the annual financial planning process and regional strategic growth initiatives. Support in producing updated financial forecasts throughout the year for reporting to management. Perform expense allocation and analysis for the region and its legal entities to derive at an accurate cost allocation to the BU and legal entities.

Collaborationandleadership

  • Collaborate with Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance functions to ensure proper oversight and support to Finance Head to address issues from finance perspective.
  • Collaborate with valuation and data admin functions on US GAAP and local financial reporting to ensure coordinated efforts in reporting controls and review, as well as supporting annual financial plan to ensure consistency within RGA practices and policies

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance
  • Professional qualifications - Chartered Accountant, CFA and other equivalent
  • 5+ years accounting/finance experience in insurance industry and/or Big 4 audit experience in insurance
  • Experience and technical knowledge of IFRS 17 preferred
  • Strong potential to mentor and develop a professional team
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships with various departments/stakeholders across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines
  • Firm understanding and experience of the insurance industry
