Job Summary
The Key Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing strategic customer accounts, building strong long-term client relationships, and driving sales performance across assigned key accounts. This role plays a critical part in expanding market presence, negotiating commercial agreements, and ensuring strong account execution in line with company goals.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Business Development
- Manage and grow relationships with key accounts, including modern trade, retail chains, distributors, and strategic business partners
- Serve as the main point of contact for assigned accounts and maintain strong client engagement
- Identify opportunities to increase sales, improve product listing, and expand distribution within existing accounts
- Develop account plans and sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets
- Prospect and onboard new key accounts in line with the company's expansion goals
Sales Planning & Execution
- Monitor account performance, sales trends, and market developments to identify growth opportunities
- Prepare sales forecasts, business reviews, and account performance reports
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure timely delivery, stock availability, and smooth execution of customer requirements
- Support promotional planning, trade marketing activities, and product launches within key accounts
- Ensure pricing, promotions, and trade terms are managed effectively and in accordance with company policy
Negotiation & Relationship Management
- Negotiate trading terms, promotional activities, product placement, and annual agreements with key customers
- Handle customer concerns, resolve issues promptly, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
- Strengthen long-term partnerships by understanding customer needs and delivering commercial value
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, operations, customer service, and supply chain teams to support account growth
- Coordinate internal resources to meet customer expectations and business objectives
- Ensure effective communication and follow-up on account-related matters
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum 35 years of experience in key account management, sales, or business development, preferably in FMCG, food & beverage, or consumer goods industry
- Strong understanding of modern trade, retail channels, distributors, and key account operations
- Proven track record in achieving sales targets and managing major customer accounts
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Commercially driven, analytical, and results-oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and sales reporting
- Willing to travel for client meetings and market visits
- Fluent in English; Mandarin and/or Bahasa Malaysia will be an added advantage
Salary
RM5,000+ per month (commensurate with experience and negotiable)
