Job Description

ATS Malaysia is seeking an Operations Manager to manage ATS Malaysia division.

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing overall operational performance of the system integration business, including project delivery, engineering execution, service operations, financial control coordination, and daily office administration.

This role ensures seamless coordination between admin, management, engineering, projects, finance, HR, procurement, and support teams to drive operational efficiency, profitability, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

The right candidate will have 8-10 years experience in system integration or similar business, have an appreciation of the key operations, ITSM and/or also Project Management skills i.e. planning, monitoring and controlling, health and safety, document control and reporting, team motivation, risk management, planning and the key interaction of Scope, Time, Cost & Quality. Experience in Project Management or construction management with QAQC responsibilities of large projects.

Responsible for daily management, planning, managing, and executing end-to-end operations activities for division activities.

Demonstrate strong stakeholder and vendor management skills are required to maintain the constraints of scope, timescale & quality on large projects.

Motivated and capable of the development and application of skills in new and existing technologies. Enthusiasm and a desire for success and Can do attitude are character traits we are seeking as is the ability to lead implementation teams to repeated successful delivery.

Some travel both within Asia may be required in this role.

WHAT THE ROLE REQUIRES TO PERFORM

Offices Operations Management

  • Office & Operations Management: Oversee daily office operations, facilities, IT, compliance, documentation, budgets, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Financial & Project Support: Monitor project costs, gross margins, billing, collections, and assist with annual budgeting and forecasting.
  • People & Resource Management: Coordinate workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
  • Procurement & Vendor Management: Manage vendor selection, subcontractor engagement, contract negotiations, supplier performance, and cost optimization.

Operations & Project Delivery Management

  • Oversee end-to-end execution of automation, PLC/SCADA, and BMS projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Monitor project schedules, manpower planning, and resource utilization.
  • Conduct weekly/monthly operations review meetings.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure proper project documentation and governance.

Technical Oversight (Automation & BMS)

  • Provide technical governance across:
  1. PLC systems
  2. SCADA platforms
  3. Building Management Systems (BMS)
  4. Power & energy monitoring systems

  • Familiarity with platforms such as:
  1. Siemens S7
  2. Allen-Bradley ControlLogix
  3. Ignition
  • Review control philosophies, FDS, cause & effect matrices.
  • Oversee FAT, SAT, and integrated system testing (IST).
  • Ensure cybersecurity and redundancy compliance for mission-critical systems

Sales & Business Development Support

  • Support pre-sales activities including:
  • Technical and Cost estimation validation
  • Risk assessment
  • Participate in client meetings and technical presentations.
  • Assist in proposal strategy and pricing alignment.
  • Identify new business opportunities within existing client base.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and drive repeat business.
  • Support contract negotiation and commercial discussions.

Quality, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Implement QA/QC processes across projects and operations.
  • Conduct operational audits and corrective actions.
  • Enforce safety compliance for site and office activities.

Incident Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Prepare management reports, dashboards, and operational reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, Instrumentation, or Facilities Engineering.
  • Min 10–15 years of experience in system integration operations, automation, or infrastructure projects.
  • Minimum 10 years in leadership/operations management role.
  • Experience in sales support or client-facing roles is required
  • Strong hands-on experience with automation systems
  • Good understanding of BMS, EMS, PLC-based systems, and OT networks.
  • Preferable Exposure to construction, commissioning, or data centre build projects.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and vendors

Technical & Professional Skills (Preferable)

  • Knowledge of data centre standards (Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ASHRAE).
  • Experience with SCADA, DCIM, CMMS, and asset management systems.
  • Ability to interpret control philosophies, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and construction drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting, risk management, and decision-making skills.
  • Clear communicator with strong stakeholder management capabilities.
