Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

These are leadership roles within Group Corporate Banking, responsible for driving portfolio growth, deepening strategic client relationships, and delivering sustainable financial performance across key corporate segments, including Corporates, GLCs, Financial Institutions, Transactional Banking, Institutional Banking and Strategic Lending.

The roles involve overseeing the delivery of comprehensive financial solutions to corporate and commercial clients, enhancing client relationships, and ensuring the achievement of Affin Group's financial targets. Incumbents are expected to uphold strong regulatory compliance and risk management standards, while fostering a Team of High-Performance Organization (THIPO) culture aligned with the Bank's overall business objectives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Business Direction

  • Provide collective senior leadership in formulating, executing, and driving the Group Corporate Banking strategy, ensuring alignment with Affin Group's overall business objectives, growth agenda, and financial targets.
  • Drive innovation, product development, and solution‑based banking approaches to maintain competitiveness and responsiveness to market dynamics.

Business Growth, Origination & Portfolio Management

  • Lead and managekey client origination and relationship strategies, including new‑to‑bank acquisitions, portfolio expansion, diversification, and wallet share optimisation.
  • Oversee structured account planning, revenue optimisation, and P&L performance to achieve sustainable growth in net interest income and fee‑based income.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue strategic partnerships, alliances, and business opportunities that deliver long‑term value to the Bank.

Client Relationship Management

  • Maintain senior‑level oversight of critical client relationships, ensuring high standards of service, client satisfaction, retention, and long‑term engagement.
  • Develop deep understanding of clients businesses, industries, and value drivers to deliver tailored and integrated banking solutions.
  • Strengthen Affin Group's value proposition through effective cross‑selling and collaboration with internal product and business units.

Credit, Risk & Governance Oversight

  • Provide strong governance and oversight on credit structuring, evaluation, approval, reviews, renewals, and amendments, ensuring sound credit quality and prudent risk management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to BNM regulations, internal credit policies, AML/CFT requirements, and governance frameworks, safeguarding the Bank's interests at all times.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Extensive senior level experience with minimum 15 years exposure in banking and strong expertise in corporate banking, strategic partnerships, institutional banking, or business development, preferably within the financial services industry.

• Proven track record in originating, managing, and growing large scale lending and corporate banking portfolios, including complex and high value transactions.

• Strong and demonstrated understanding of credit risk management, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics, with the ability to exercise sound judgment in risk based decision making.

• Experience engaging directly with C suite stakeholders, senior government officials, board members, and high profile institutional or corporate clients.

• Strong commercial acumen, with excellent negotiation, influencing, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build trust, credibility, and long term relationships at all organizational levels.

• Professional presence with proven tact, diplomacy, and gravitas in representing Group Corporate Banking and the Bank in external forums, client engagements, and industry platforms.

• Strategic mindset with the ability to balance business growth, risk governance, and regulatory compliance in a complex banking environment.

• Strong leadership capability with experience in people development, succession planning, and fostering high performance teams.
