Job Purpose
- Tax compliance: Compliance with all tax regulations (corporate tax, service tax, WHT etc).
- Strategic Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the bank's tax position and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate tax risks for the bank.
Job Accountabilities
Corporate Tax Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns and compliance with all tax laws and regulations for direct and indirect tax.
- Oversee and review of tax estimates
- Oversee and prepare monthly tax provision and deferred tax computations
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax computations and returns
- Preparation and review of transfer pricing documentation
- Provide tax advisory services to the bank's various business units
- Assess new regulatory requirements and manage implementation, where required
- Review and recommend tax-efficient transactions
- Engage with government authorities on tax-related issues
- Collaborate with industry peers and participate in industry forums to address tax matters.
- Identify potential tax risks and communicate them effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Implement appropriate mitigation measures to manage these risk
- Actively participate in major business decisions, contributing value through strategic tax planning
- Assess and identify business development opportunities related to tax engagement. Provide guidance on tax implications for business transactions and strategic initiatives.
- Lead and support tax related projects, including process improvements and advisory work
- Any other ad hoc tax matters
This role requires a strong understanding of tax legislation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure. It also involves significant interaction with various stakeholders within and outside the organization.
Job Requirements
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in corporate tax, including prior experience in Big 4 accounting firm.
- Degree in Accounting or its related discipline. Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent) preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Malaysian laws and regulations.
- Ability to analyze complex tax issues and provide strategic solution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with various stakeholders
- Proficiency in identifying and resolving tax-related issues
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build good rapport with team members and other business unit.
- Possesses strong initiatives and positive attitudes with a good writing skill, communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tax filings and reports
