The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all HR functions at FMT, ensuring compliance with Malaysian labour laws while supporting a dynamic newsroom and media operations. This role plays a strategic and operational part in talent management, employee relations, compensation & benefits, and HR policy implementation.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, confirmation, transfers, and offboarding.
- Oversee leave management, attendance, and employee benefits administration.
- Support workforce planning and talent development initiatives.
- Handle disciplinary matters, grievances, and performance-related issues professionally and confidentially.
- Ensure accurate salary payments, statutory deductions (EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB, HRDCorp), and final settlements.
- Oversee performance appraisal processes and confirmation reviews.
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbook updates.
- Support management in organisational development and change initiatives.
- Prepare HR reports on headcount, turnover, leave, and disciplinary matters.
- Support audits and management reviews as required.
- Handle labour and employment disputes, including disciplinary cases, claims, and legal proceedings, in consultation with management.
- Support other HR and administrative functions as required to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 57 years of HR experience, with at least 23 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in media, publishing, or fast-paced organisations is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian labour laws and HR best practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
