Mainframe Cobol Developer

We are looking out candidates for Mainframe COBOL Developer position. This is contractual position with our client. Work Location will be Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and requires work from office.

Job Description:

Responsible for the design, development, enhancement, and production support in Mainframe system for MARS Loan BAU and project.

Responsibilities:

·        Prepare technical specifications for enhancements or projects.

·        Program coding, unit testing, integrated testing, UAT support and production cutover.

·        Immediate rectification of all issues encountered during user SIT, UAT and production.

·        Ensure programs are migrated to acceptance environment upon completion of integrated testing.

·        Ensure thorough testing being done during unit testing and SIT

·        Attend to users queries on the projects/enhancements.

·        Prepare up-to-date source code migration template

Requirement Experience:

·        Minimum 8 to 12 years of mainframe experiences in software development and coding especially in COBOL.

·        Banking or financing industry experience in loan application is an added advantage

Core Technical Skillsets:

· COBOL - Excellent knowledge of COBOL programming (online and batch programs) is required

· JCL - Excellent knowledge of JCL is required

· CICS

· VSAM

· Tools: ISPF, TSO, SDSF, File‑AID, XPEDITER, DFSORT  

Other Skillsets:

·        Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture

·        Exposure to IDMS and DB2 is an added advantage

·        Understanding of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software quality assurance principles

·        A technical mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·        Outstanding communication across functions (Business, Operations, Infra, QA)

·        Able to work independently with very minimal guidance

·        Ability to work under tight timelines

·        At least a degree qualification either in computer science, engineering or relevant field
